About Hesta Health

Hesta is creating a new benchmark in women’s health, delivering exceptional care at every life stage. As we advance towards this goal, we are committed to closing the women’s health gap, beginning with pregnancy and postnatal as our initial focus. 75 million years of women’s lives are lost every year due to poor health or early death. This gap limits potential, drives inequality, and reflects a healthcare system that wasn’t built for women. We are changing that.

75 million years of women’s lives are lost every year due to poor health or early death. This gap limits potential, drives inequality, and reflects a healthcare system that wasn’t built for women. We are changing that.

Our first mission is to reimagine care for mothers and birthing parents through compassionate care, clinical excellence and technology

Job Description

We’re looking for a caring, passionate midwife to support women and birthing parents through the postnatal period - helping them navigate the complexities of what’s normal, what’s not, and everything in between

You’ll provide thoughtful, individualised care that recognises how busy and demanding the postnatal period can be, meeting people where they are, whether that’s virtually at a time that fits around their lives or in their own homes.

You’ll be joining a friendly, ambitious multidisciplinary team including GPs, physiotherapists, and psychotherapists who genuinely enjoy working together. Collaboration sits at the heart of what we do, and we’re deeply committed to making sure every woman and birthing parent feels heard, safe, and supported during one of the most significant times of their life.

This is a part-time role with flexible hours, based in London, and is ideal for an experienced midwife who wants to have real influence in shaping the way care is delivered. You will bring your clinical expertise, and human-first approach informed by your experience of caring for women and birthing people to everything you do.

As an early-stage health tech startup, we’re building something from the ground up. You’ll be part of that journey, helping us test, learn, and improve as we go, so that what we create genuinely works for women and birthing parents and clinicians

If you’re excited by the idea of building something meaningful with a team that really cares, we’d love to hear from you!

  • Time commitment: Part-time, with flexible hours

  • Location: Hybrid - a mix of virtual consultations and home visits - you’ll need to be able to travel around London

  • Start date: ASAP

What you’ll do

  • Provide holistic, compassionate postnatal care to support the post-birth recovery and any additional follow-ups after childbirth

  • Carry out comprehensive reviews of women with a strong focus on overall recovery (including any breastfeeding concerns, post-birth wound recovery concerns)

  • Educate and empower women, birthing parents and families with evidence-based guidance

  • Work collaboratively with other members of the Hesta Health MDT to ensure women and birthing parents receive end to end support and comprehensive care

  • Identify, monitor and manage risks in the postnatal period, escalating or referring where necessary

  • Keep clear, accurate, and confidential clinical notes using our digital EHR system

  • Stay curious and up to date with developments in postnatal care and other relevant clinical guidance

  • Get involved in improving and shaping how we deliver care, and contributing ideas as we continue to build and evolve the service

What you’ll bring

  • You are a registered midwife with the NMC, with experience supporting women and birthing parents in the postnatal period, including community-based care

  • You are comfortable working across London and willing to travel to provide in-person care in people’s homes when needed

  • You are an excellent communicator, you are compassionate, calm, and person-focused with an understanding of how busy, messy, and demanding the postnatal period can be and using that to inform the way you compassionately manage patients

  • You have advanced lactation training (IBCLC or equivalent) - this is not compulsory but very desirable

  • You are confident assessing, managing, and escalating clinical risk, and you hold patient safety at the centre of everything you do

  • You are comfortable delivering care both virtually and face-to-face, using your clinical judgement to adapt your approach to each person and setting

  • You’re comfortable working in a digital-first environment (electronic health records, virtual tools, etc.)  or keen to learn

  • You thrive in a small, fast-moving team, where things aren’t always perfectly formed and everyone contributes beyond their job title

  • Most importantly, you’re motivated by changing the system and excited to contribute to better, more compassionate care for women in line with Hesta’s mission and values

What we offer:

  • You’re joining a winning team who closed their oversubscribed £2M pre-seed earlier this year, backed by investors such as Eka Ventures and Blue Lion Capital

  • Hesta’s co-founders bring expertise across business, technology, and clinical care, with experience in the NHS, Airbnb, Babylon, and McKinsey & Company, alongside research at the University of Oxford and UCL.

  • A unique opportunity to join a startup at day zero and help build the backbone of a healthcare service designed specifically for women and birthing parents.

  • Join a small, mission-driven team where your contributions have immediate impact - we can actually change how healthcare is designed, delivered and scaled for women, here at Hesta Health!

We strongly encourage applications from people of colour, the LGBTQ+ community, people with disabilities, neurodivergent people, parents, carers, and people from lower socio-economic backgrounds.

If there’s anything we can do to accommodate your specific situation, please let us know.
