Hesta is creating a new benchmark in women’s health, delivering exceptional care at every life stage. As we advance towards this goal, we are committed to closing the women’s health gap, beginning with pregnancy and postpartum as our initial focus. 75 million years of women’s lives are lost every year due to poor health or early death. This gap limits potential, drives inequality, and reflects a healthcare system that wasn’t built for women. We are changing that.
We raised our pre-seed round last year, alongside grant funding to launch Hesta Labs. Within months of founding we operationalised a CQC-registered multidisciplinary healthcare service, have already cared for hundreds of women, and been featured in The Times.
Our co-founders Dr Sujitha Selvarajah (NHS OBGYN doctor with a global public health background) and Amanda Cupples (ex-Managing Director, Airbnb UK, Northern Europe and MEA; ex-COO, Babylon; ex-McKinsey and Deluxe) have built a team of world-leading clinical, product and technology advisors, and are backed by investors including Eka, Blue Lion, Ascension and others.
We’re looking for a Marketing & Growth Intern who is brilliant at being creative and trying things.
You’ll work right next to the founders and our Growth lead to help more women find Hesta. That means finding the right voice for women in one of the most intense chapters of their lives, making content that lands, and using data to work out what’s actually driving growth.
This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to learn by doing. You’ll have a real say in strategy, your ideas will go live in days, and you’ll see first-hand what it takes to build a healthcare company from the early stages.
Find our voice
Help shape the right tone for women who are pregnant or have just had a baby, and get the nuance right
Know when a moment needs warmth, when it needs straight facts, and make sure every piece carries care
Listen hard to the women we serve and learn fast. You don’t need a background in health
Create and publish content
Plan and post across our social channels (Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok)
Write captions and short-form copy, and turn ideas, research and founder input into compelling content
Build social graphics, carousels and simple animations using tools like Canva or Figma
Get stuck into the detail, from editing captions to rebuilding a carousel because the third slide was off
Engage with our community and respond to comments and messages
Use data to work out what’s working
Dig into social and website analytics and work out what’s actually driving growth
Run small experiments, track the results and share what’s working and what isn’t
Help us decide where to spend our time based on the evidence
Get to grips with the science
Learn the evidence behind what we do, working with our clinical team
Make sure everything we put out is both human and true
Help us reach more women
Bring ideas for campaigns, partnerships, PR angles and community moments
Support newsletters, announcements and outreach
Have a real say in our marketing strategy, as well as carrying it out
Social-native: You’ve run social media accounts before, whether for a brand, a society, a side project or yourself. You know what it takes to post consistently and grow an audience.
Empathetic: You can put yourself in the shoes of a woman who is pregnant, has just given birth, or is three months in and running on no sleep. You think about how something will feel to read at 3am with a crying baby, as well as how it will perform.
Biased to action: You’d rather try three things by Friday than write a deck about one.
Creative and curious: You’re full of ideas and willing to try things that might not work.
Data-driven: You love a spreadsheet as much as a good caption. You’re confident pulling numbers from social, web and campaign analytics, spotting patterns, and turning them into a clear “here’s what’s working and what we should do next”. You don’t need to be an analyst, but you measure everything and let the results change your mind.
A strong writer: You write clearly and have good judgement about tone.
An eye for design: You notice when something looks off and care about getting it right.
Energetic: You bring energy, and people notice it.
Organised and proactive: You can juggle several things at once and work independently.
Mission-aligned: You care about women’s health and the idea of building the future of healthcare.
You might be a student, a recent graduate or a career-switcher. You don’t need a degree, a specific background or a perfect fit. If you only tick some of these boxes, apply anyway.
Bonus: Familiarity with Canva, Figma, CapCut or similar; experience with Google Ads, Analytics or social insights; exposure to healthcare, startups or tech.
This role is:
A hands-on marketing and growth internship - ideally you could commit 3 days a week for 6 months, but if not tell us what's possible when you apply.
A chance to learn by doing, working closely with the founders and growth lead
A role where creativity and data matter equally
An opportunity to shape how a new women’s health brand shows up
This role is not:
A shadowing or admin-only internship
A strategy-only role. You’ll be making things every day
A role that needs a background in health
A guaranteed route to a permanent position, although that may be possible
Founders who’ve done it. Dr Sujitha is an OB-GYN with research at Oxford and UCL who knows this problem from the clinic floor. Amanda has scaled businesses, most recently as MD of Airbnb Northern Europe and COO of Babylon. You’ll learn from both every day.
A problem that matters. Every year, hundreds of thousands of women in the UK go through pregnancy and the first years with a baby with very little support. Fixing that changes lives.
We move fast and it’s working. We built a working MVP of a CQC-regulated, integrated healthcare service for women in 8 weeks, with real women using it from launch, and were featured in The Times. We’ve completed a feasibility study with the NHS and primary care, and we’ve cared for more than 200 women.
Fuel in the tank. We’re well-funded and backed by investors such as Eka Ventures, Ascension and Blue Lion Capital, and we have £1.5m in government-backed R&D funding.
What women who’ve used Hesta are saying:
“I have never felt this listened to or heard … felt very empowered and supported.”
“Surpassed any expectations. Highly recommend.”
Paid internship, with the possibility (not guaranteed) of extending or moving into a permanent role
Close mentorship from our co-founders
Join a small, mission-driven team where your contributions have immediate impact
Flexible, hybrid working, including family-friendly hours
Office facilities: spacious working space with other innovators in Victoria, bike storage, changing facilities and a healthy supply of tea and coffee
25 days annual leave a year (pro rata) + public holidays
We strongly encourage applications from people of colour, the LGBTQ+ community, people with disabilities, neurodivergent people, parents, carers, and people from lower socio-economic backgrounds.
If there’s anything we can do to accommodate your specific situation, please let us know.
