Lactation consultant

Are you a qualified Lactation Consultant looking to deliver truly integrated, modern postnatal support?

About Hesta Health

Hesta is creating a new benchmark in women’s health, delivering exceptional care at every life stage. As we advance towards this goal, we are committed to closing the women’s health gap, beginning with pregnancy and postnatal as our initial focus. 75 million years of women’s lives are lost every year due to poor health or early death. This gap limits potential, drives inequality, and reflects a healthcare system that wasn’t built for women. We are changing that.

About us

Hesta is creating a new benchmark in women’s health, delivering exceptional care at every life stage. As we advance towards this goal, we are committed to closing the women’s health gap, beginning with pregnancy and postpartum as our initial focus.

75 million years of women’s lives are lost every year due to poor health or early death. This gap limits potential, drives inequality, and reflects a healthcare system that wasn’t built for women. We are changing that.

Hesta is building a new model of women’s healthcare, and our first mission is to reimagine care for mothers through compassionate care, clinical excellence, and technology.

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) to deliver high-quality, evidence-based infant feeding support as part of our multidisciplinary care model. You will play a critical role in supporting mothers and birthing parents through feeding challenges, contributing to improved maternal and infant outcomes.

This is a hands-on clinical role working closely with physiotherapists, mental health practitioners, and the product team to shape a new standard of postnatal care.

What You’ll Do

You will deliver safe, effective, and compassionate lactation support across remote (digital) and in-person settings, including:

  • Conduct comprehensive infant feeding assessments, including latch, positioning, milk transfer, and maternal factors

  • Develop personalised feeding plans tailored to individual needs and preferences

  • Support a range of feeding challenges (e.g. low milk supply, pain, mastitis, tongue tie pathways, combination feeding, weaning)

  • Provide practical, evidence-based guidance and reassurance to mothers and families

  • Identify clinical red flags and escalate or refer appropriately (e.g. to GP, paediatrics, tongue tie specialists)

  • Document clinical assessments, care plans, and outcomes in line with professional and regulatory standards

  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver integrated postnatal care

  • Contribute to the development of care pathways, protocols, and clinical content within Hesta’s platform

  • Support patient education materials and digital content related to infant feeding

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practice and guidelines in lactation and infant feeding

You will be working across disciplines, contributing to a holistic model of postnatal care that integrates physical, mental, and infant health.

What You’ll Bring

  • IBCLC qualification (required)

  • Clinical experience supporting infant feeding in community, hospital, or private settings

  • Strong knowledge of breastfeeding physiology, common feeding challenges, and evidence-based interventions

  • Ability to conduct thorough assessments and develop clear, actionable care plans

  • Confidence working autonomously in a fast-paced, early-stage environment

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to support and reassure patients in a sensitive and non-judgemental way

  • Strong clinical judgement, including recognising when to escalate or refer

  • Comfort working with digital tools and remote care delivery

Nice to have:

  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams

  • Familiarity with NHS postnatal pathways and referral systems

  • Experience contributing to clinical protocols or digital health products

  • Additional training in areas such as tongue tie, infant sleep, or maternal mental health

  • Interest in women’s health innovation and early-stage healthcare environments

Company Benefits

  • Hesta's co-founders are experienced operators and clinicians who have worked at Airbnb, Babylon, NHS, Oxford, UCL and McKinsey & Company

  • A unique opportunity to join an early stage startup and help build the backbone of a healthcare service designed specifically for women and birthing parents

  • Join a small, mission-driven team where your contributions have immediate impact - we can actually the way healthcare is designed, delivered and scaled for women, here at Hesta Health!
