About Hesta Health

Hesta is creating a new benchmark in women’s health, delivering exceptional care at every life stage. As we advance towards this goal, we are committed to closing the women’s health gap, beginning with pregnancy and postnatal as our initial focus. 75 million years of women’s lives are lost every year due to poor health or early death. This gap limits potential, drives inequality, and reflects a healthcare system that wasn’t built for women. We are changing that.

About Us

Hesta is creating a new benchmark in women’s health, delivering exceptional care at every life stage. As we advance towards this goal, we are committed to closing the women’s health gap, beginning with pregnancy and postnatal as our initial focus.

75 million years of women’s lives are lost every year due to poor health or early death. This gap limits potential, drives inequality, and reflects a healthcare system that wasn’t built for women. We are changing that.

Our first mission is to reimagine care for mothers and birthing parents through compassionate care, clinical excellence and technology. We've just closed a £2m pre-seed funding round, and now we’re building our founding team - people who share our vision to rebuild women’s healthcare from the ground up.

Job Description

The Product & Service Designer plays a central role in shaping how Hesta designs and delivers care for women and birthing parents.

This role goes beyond crafting interfaces — it’s about designing the entire experience: how women move through different care paths, how our product enables that journey, and how every decision drives real health impact.

You’ll lead discovery and design across product and service ensuring everything we build reflects genuine user needs, clinical insight, and measurable outcomes. You’ll work closely with the founding team to define the future of women’s health.

What You'll Do

Research & Insight

  • To lead and execute on end-to-end user research — from framing discovery to running interviews, to embedding continuous feedback loops

  • Translate real user needs into elegant, intuitive product experiences

  • Share learnings to build a culture of evidence-based, user-centred design.

Service & Experience Design

  • Design connected experiences that link product, clinical care delivery, and excellent user experience.

  • Apply behavioural and clinical insight to improve outcomes and engagement.

  • Map and refine service journeys to remove friction and improve access.

Product Design & Testing

  • Turn insights into flows, wireframes, and prototypes (Figma proficiency required)

  • Test early and iterate fast to ensure usability, safety, and clarity.

  • Collaborate with product and engineering to bring designs to life and evolve them post-launch.

  • Balance human-centred design with regulatory and clinical safety requirements

Design System & Language

  • Define and maintain Hesta’s design system and tone of voice.

  • Ensure visuals, copy, and interaction patterns build trust and consistency.

  • Align with marketing and clinical teams for a unified brand experience.

Requirements

Who You Are

  • Organised and execution-focused — you turn ideas into action and deliver results, ruthlessly prioritising for impact

  • Entrepreneurial and resourceful — you thrive on ambiguity, have a bias for action and can get things done without big budgets or team. At Hesta, this means understanding the full design thinking toolkit, while knowing when to make trade-offs and move fast in a lean, early-stage environment.

  • Intellectually curious and fast-learning —  you dive into new areas, simplify complexity, and get to meaningful results quickly. We’re especially keen on someone who’s AI-curious — do you use AI tooling in your workflow? Have you shipped products with AI features?

  • Product-proven — you’ve shipped live products, worked with embedded data, solved real user problems, and iterated to improve the experience in production.

  • Regulation-aware — you’ve designed in regulated industries and understand how to bring clarity and usability to complex, data-heavy systems.

  • Generalist by design — you’re comfortable owning the end-to-end process: from organising and conducting user research, to service and product design, to UI. UI doesn’t need to be your strongest skill, but you should be willing to take ownership and collaborate to get it done.

  • Collaborative and gap-filling — you work cross-functionally, adapt quickly, and step in wherever needed to move the work forward.

  • Strong communicator — you can distil complexity and influence decisions with data and storytelling

  • Mission-driven — you care deeply about healthcare and building things that make a real-world impact. (You don’t need prior healthcare experience — but the drive to make a difference matters.)
