Hesta Health is setting a new standard for excellence in women’s health - starting with pregnancy and the two years after birth.
75 million years of women’s lives are lost every year due to poor health or early death. This gap limits potential, drives inequality, and reflects a healthcare system that wasn’t built for women. We are changing that.
We're combining compassionate, evidence-based clinical care with digital tools to close the women’s health gap and redesign care pathways for mothers and birthing parents.
Hesta Health is looking for an ambitious, analytical and exceptionally proactive Clinical AI Intern who is motivated to solve real problems in women’s health. You must be currently enrolled in a UK medical degree programme or have graduated recently, and have demonstrated use of AI. You will work at the forefront of clinical innovation, helping to design safe, evidence-based AI solutions that improve outcomes for women and birthing parents. This is an opportunity to take ownership, test ideas rigorously and contribute to building a new benchmark in postnatal care.
You’ll work with the mentorship of Dr Sujitha Selvarajah (co-founder) and our senior technical engineering advisor.
Translate complex, messy real-world clinical scenarios into structured, safe and usable AI workflows
Interrogate model outputs against guideline and best practice, identifying gaps, risks and failure modes
Prototype quickly, test rigorously, learn fast and refine continuously
Work closely with clinicians, product and engineering to turn frontline insight into scalable, responsible solutions
Contribute to documentation, governance frameworks and safety processes to ensure innovation is grounded in integrity
We’re looking for someone currently training for a primary medical qualification or who has graduated from medical school
Strong clinical reasoning and the ability to spot ambiguity, risk and edge cases
A proactive, problem-solving mindset, you do not wait for instructions but actively look for what needs improving
Enough technical fluency to understand how AI systems are built and where they break, coding experience is helpful but not essential
Comfort working with digital tools, EHR systems or health technology
The ability to turn domain knowledge into structured logic, prompts, decision trees or end-to-end workflows
Curiosity about AI systems and a commitment to ensuring they are safe, evidence-based and centred on patient experience
VERY IMPORTANT QUALITY: a willingness to learn
